Apple will launch new low-cost smartphone in 2020

Apple will launch a replacement iPhone SE-style smartphone in 2020, consistent with Nikkei.

The Asian news outlet has suggested that Apple will launch a next-generation iPhone SE.

“The size of the new model are going to be almost like the 4.7-inch iPhone 8 that was introduced in 2017,” the report suggests.

“The model will share most of an equivalent components with the flagship iPhones this year, and it'll feature the lower-cost liquid display which will help Apple achieve the lower starting price-tag, although the ultimate pricing for the model isn't yet settled,” they added.

Rumors of a reasonable iPhone are circulating ever since the launch of the first iPhone SE back in 2016, with Apple more recently reportedly considering modeling the new device off of the iPhone 8, which the Economic Daily News suggested back in April 2019.

According to Economic Daily News, Apple will release the device in early 2020 and it'll feature an LCD display to chop costs, also as an A13 processor, a single-lens rear camera, and 128GB of base storage.

It’s unknown whether the new iPhone will feature a notched design and Face ID or slightly ID home button to scale back costs, although the latter seems more plausible.

Apple’s cheapest iPhone immediately is that the iPhone 7, ranging from just $449 within the us, but a more advanced affordable model to compete with the likes of the Google Pixel 3a is sensible, especially as Samsung et al. are cannibalizing Apple’s sales.

Apple is predicted to finish sales of the iPhone 7 when its new flagship smartphone range launches next week, which might leave room within the line-up for a reasonable smartphone.
